President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the removal of the minister of Finance and minister for Housing and Urban Development.
Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Sen. George Akume announced the shakeup through a memo released on Tuesday.
Mr. Wale Edun the former Minister of Finance and coordinating Minister of the Economy has been directed to handover to Mr. Taiwo Oyedele who is formerly the Minister for State of Finance.
Arc. Ahmed Musa Dangiwa who is the former Minister for Housing and Urban Development has been directed to handover to the minister of state in same ministry pending the senate confirmation of Mr. Muttaqha Rabe Darma PhD as his replacement.
In explaining the President’s actions, the SGF explained that the “changes are aimed at strengthening cohesion, synergy in governance as well as achieving more impactful delivery on the economy to Nigerians, through the Renewed Hope Agenda.”
Akume also conveyed President’s gratitude to the outgoing ministers for their service to the nation and wished them the best in all their future endeavours.
The memo also assured other cabinet members that “the process of reinvigoration shall be continuous.”
